Should a Brand Run TikTok Shop and Amazon Together?

Short answer: Yes, when TikTok can create demand profitably and Amazon is ready to capture the branded search and repeat purchases that follow. Treat TikTok as discovery and Amazon as the catalog shoppers trust for comparison and reorder, with shared pricing, creative and inventory ownership.
Why brands pair the two
TikTok Shop is built around short video, LIVE and creator discovery. Amazon is where many shoppers still go to compare options, read reviews and reorder a brand they already know. Running them together means TikTok creates demand and Amazon is ready when that demand turns into branded search and repeat purchase. Neither channel replaces the other.
What has to be true on each side
| Channel | Job in the pair | What to get right |
|---|---|---|
| TikTok Shop | Discovery and first purchase through creators and content | Product-market fit for video, creator commissions you can afford after the referral fee, samples, and fulfillment that meets TikTok’s rules |
| Amazon | Capture branded search and convert shoppers who already know you | Complete listings, reviews, inventory depth, and Sponsored Ads ready for your brand terms and hero ASINs |
TikTok’s published US referral fee is 6% for most categories (see TikTok Shop Referral Fees by Category). Build creator commissions and samples on top of that before you scale content. On Amazon, do not raise bids into a stockout; keep weeks of cover on the ASINs TikTok is featuring.
A practical operating loop
- Pick a small set of hero products that can win on video and that you can keep in stock on Amazon.
- Match the offer. Same product name, core claims and a price that does not train shoppers to wait for a TikTok-only discount.
- Watch branded search on Amazon after a TikTok push. If branded queries rise, make sure the Amazon listing, reviews and ads are ready to take the sale.
- Send winners both ways. Creatives that convert on TikTok can inform Amazon A+ and Store content. Amazon reviews and Q&A can inform TikTok scripts with real objections.
- Review contribution by channel. A sale on TikTok and a sale on Amazon have different fee stacks. Judge each on contribution margin after fees, ads, samples and returns.
Exceptions
- If Amazon Brand Registry, account health or inventory is weak, fix that before spending heavily on TikTok creators that will send people to a broken Amazon experience.
- If your TikTok margin cannot fund creator commissions after the referral fee, Amazon-only or a lighter TikTok test is safer until the unit economics work.
- Exclusive TikTok SKUs can still support Amazon if the brand story matches, but do not surprise Amazon shoppers with a different formula or claim.
Eva Commerce runs TikTok Shop management and Amazon management as one plan when a brand wants discovery on TikTok and capture on Amazon. One team owns pricing, creative direction, inventory signals and reporting so the channels reinforce each other. Book a call to review whether your hero products are ready for both.
Follow-up questions
Does TikTok Shop traffic automatically create Amazon sales?
Not automatically. Shoppers who discover a brand on TikTok may later search that brand name on Amazon, but only if the brand is easy to find there with matching products, pricing and stock. The Amazon side still needs listings, reviews, inventory and ads ready for branded search.
What fees apply if I sell on both?
Each channel charges its own fees. TikTok Shop’s US referral fee is 6% for most categories (5% for five fine-jewelry sub-categories and Pre-Owned), with the base defined in TikTok’s Seller University. Amazon charges its own referral fees and, for Professional sellers, a monthly plan fee. Model contribution margin on each channel separately.
Who should own pricing and creative across both?
One team should own pricing, claims and hero creative so TikTok videos and Amazon listings do not contradict each other. Cross-channel price gaps and mismatched claims create returns, account health issues and confused AI and human shoppers.
