How Much Should I Spend on Amazon PPC?

Short answer: Amazon sets no minimum. Sponsored Products has no monthly or upfront fee, and you choose your own daily budget and maximum cost-per-click bids. Spend what your margin can carry: work out break-even ACoS for each product, fund each campaign so it does not run out of budget before shoppers buy, and raise budgets only on in-stock products where ACoS stays below break-even.
How Amazon charges for Sponsored Products
| Item | What Amazon says |
|---|---|
| Fees | No monthly or upfront fees. You bid the most you will pay when a shopper clicks. |
| Daily budget | A daily amount over a calendar month. Example from Amazon: $100 per day can mean up to $3,100 of clicks in a 31-day month. |
| Pacing | Budgets are not paced through the day. A small budget can be spent in a few minutes on busy terms. |
| Eligibility | Products must be in an eligible category and eligible for the Featured Offer. Ads only appear when the item is in stock. |
| New seller credit | Up to $1,000 in ad credits for new Professional sellers in select marketplaces, under Amazon’s terms. |
How to set your Amazon PPC budget, step by step
- Find break-even ACoS for each product. Take the selling price, subtract product cost, Amazon fees, shipping and other variable costs, then divide what is left by the selling price. If ACoS is above that number, each ad sale loses money. See how to calculate and improve ACoS.
- Give every product a role. Eva classifies each ASIN by ranking stage (launch, defense, or harvest) and lets budget follow the stage. A launch product can justify spend closer to break-even while it builds sales history. A harvest product should earn a margin on every ad sale.
- Start each campaign with a budget you can afford to learn with. Pick a daily budget you are comfortable spending while the search term report fills up, then check whether the campaign runs out early in the day. Running out early means lost sales at the hours that matter.
- Move money to proven search terms. Review search terms every week. Put converting terms in their own exact match campaigns and add irrelevant terms as negative keywords. Eva runs this as continuous search term and Search Query Performance harvesting.
- Tie spend to inventory. Cut or pause spend on products about to run low. Amazon stops showing ads for out-of-stock items anyway, and paying to push a product you cannot ship hurts ranking. Eva pulls spend back on low-stock ASINs automatically.
- Scale only where the numbers hold. Raise budgets on campaigns that stay below break-even ACoS and keep total ad spend as a share of total sales (TACoS) steady. See break-even ROAS and TACoS targets.
Quick guide by situation
| Situation | How to set spend |
|---|---|
| New product, few reviews | Budget for learning. Accept ACoS near break-even for a planned period, and cap it. |
| Established best seller | Fund to stay in stock on top terms. Expect ACoS well below break-even. |
| Campaign runs out before evening | Raise the budget or cut wasted terms first. Amazon does not pace budgets through the day. |
| Low stock or a supply gap | Lower budgets on that product until stock is secure. |
| Product lost the Featured Offer | Fix price, stock or fulfillment first. Sponsored Products needs Featured Offer eligibility. |
Exceptions
- Products you cannot advertise. Amazon lists adult, used, refurbished and closed-category products as not eligible for Sponsored Products.
- Peak seasons. Competition rises and unpaced budgets can run out faster, so check budget status daily during big sales events.
- Brand defense. Spend on your own brand terms is judged on protecting sales, not only on ACoS.

Follow-up questions
Is there a minimum budget for Amazon PPC?
Amazon says Sponsored Products campaigns have no monthly or upfront fees. You pay per click and choose your own bids and daily budget, so the minimum is set by you, not by Amazon.
Does a $100 daily budget mean I spend exactly $100 every day?
No. Amazon treats the daily budget as an amount you are willing to spend over a calendar month. Its own example: a $100 daily budget can produce up to $3,100 of clicks in a 31-day month. Budgets are not paced through the day, so a small budget can be used up quickly.
Should I count Amazon new seller ad credits as budget?
Treat them as a bonus, not a plan. Amazon offers up to $1,000 in ad credits to new Professional sellers who listed their first buyable ASIN in an eligible marketplace within the last 90 days and spend on Sponsored Products within 30 days of their first campaign. The value differs by marketplace and terms apply.
